PCTI and Dictate.it Bring Hospital Records to GPs in Real Time

NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Castleford, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom, 11/10/2009 - Hospital records can now be signed off online and be with the patient's GP immediately, thanks to a new partnership between Dictate.it, the leading supplier of digital dictation and voice recognition solutions to the NHS, and PCTI.

Dictate.it is the only company in Britain able to provide a comprehensive patient data management platform that includes digital dictation (powered by Nuance's SpeechMagic technology), transcription and speech recognition, all seamlessly integrated into a cutting-edge workflow management platform.

Under the new agreement, this platform is now integrated into PCTI's Electronic Document Transfer (EDT) solution, which provides NHS Trusts with a simple and secure way to instantly deliver electronic documents to GP surgeries and Primary Care organisations. Using E-sign technology, specialists can sign off patient records online. The solution captures and encrypts documents from hospital systems, transferring them over N3 using a HTTPS (SSL Security) connection to EDT-enabled GP practices.

Practices using Docman EDT receive electronic documents centrally, in which can easily be filed and quickly put into action. Practices that have not deployed PCTI's Docman are still able to receive patient records electronically.

Mark Miller, Managing Director, Dictate.it, comments: "We are delighted to be partnering with PCTI to add even more value to our existing offering to NHS Trusts. The ability to handle the approval and distribution of patient records online means cost savings on postage and printing, improved security of patient data, and faster turnaround of patient information. This ultimately results in a more efficient NHS."

The partnership is set to have a significant impact on the health service as Dictate.it currently works with 70 hospitals in 27 Trusts, covering over 25,100 beds, making it the sector leader. These numbers are set to grow thanks to Dictate.it being awarded a Framework Agreement in August to supply a full, end-to-end workflow management system to over 200 NHS Trusts. Dictate.it is the only supplier under the agreement that can offer a complete package of digital dictation, speech recognition and outsourced transcription services.

Tim Robinson, Business Development Manager at PCTI Solutions Ltd, comments: "PCTI is a leading provider of practice management software, enabling GP surgeries to automate document workflows. By partnering with Dictate.it, we will be able to ensure that important medical data for thousands of hospital patients across the country is managed quickly, efficiently and securely. Working together, we will make it easier for hospitals and GP surgeries to deliver excellent levels of care."
