NewswireToday - /newswire/ - New Orleans, LA, United States, 11/09/2009 - “It’s a Wonderful Life” is being produced by a group of New Orleans voice-over actors, as a radio play, to benefit regeneration and rebuilding following Hurricane Katrina.

A radio-style theatre production of the popular classic movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” is being produced by a group of New Orleans voice-over actors, to be performed in December with proceeds going to benefit post-Katrina regeneration and rebuilding.

The performance has also received the support of leading Los Angeles-based radio dramatist Tony Palermo, who has offered every help, including scripts, sound effects and background music.

The production is being presented by New Orleans voice-acting group NOLA Voice Talent, co-produced by local voice talent Bill Lee and British voice actor Stephen James; and directed by Stephen James with the assistance of Tony Palermo. Explained Bill Lee: “The production will be held in radio-theatre style, similar to the way that radio drama was broadcast live in the 1940s, when the live audience could see the voice actors ‘behind the mic’ with their scripts.”

Bill added, “All the actors and crew are giving their time and expertise at no charge, in support of this great city. In addition, we have received sponsorship agreements from State Farm Insurance and Sir Speedy Printing, with interest from a number additional sponsors.”

“It’s a Wonderful Life” will be held on Sunday 20th December (7.30pm) at Zeitgeist Multi-disciplinary Arts Centre at 1618 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. Tickets are $10.00 (plus a voluntary donation if possible) and are available from Zeitgeist Multi-disciplinary Arts Center. Proceeds will be donated to the non-profit organization Common Ground Relief to assist in the rebuilding and regeneration of New Orleans.
