Strongsville, OH, United States, 11/02/2009 - Gulf States Toyota (GST), an independent distributor of Toyota vehicles, has chosen Envirobase High Performance waterborne basecoat by PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) for its vehicle processing center.

GST distributes Toyota and Scion brand cars, trucks and sport utility vehicles to 154 dealerships in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. The processing center, located in Houston, is the company’s key facility for a range of vehicle services such as body and paint repair, equipment upgrades, special paint applications and accessory installation.
“We’re committed to doing the right thing for the environment,” said Bryan Reis, GST collision center operations manager. “We wanted to ensure we were doing all we could to be ecologically conscientious. That meant, among other things, converting to waterborne coatings. It also meant meeting Toyota’s high standards for quality. The decision to work with PPG was a shift for GST. The company had been working with another supplier for more than 20 years. The change to PPG was based on GST’s desire to go "green” and enter into a long-term relationship with a company that could provide it with a high-quality, environmentally-friendly product line as well as complete training and support. GST will be serviced by PPG Platinum Distributor TASCO Auto Color.
