It’s that time of year again and the Prescott Strings Classical Chamber Orchestra is pleased to announce the first of four concerts scheduled for the 2009-2010 season. “This Fall concert performance will mark the beginning of the Prescott Strings’ 27th season in Prescott.” stated Dr. Phil Kuhns, Conductor of the Strings.
The Prescott Strings Classical Chamber Orchestra has remained true to chamber music form – that of playing music written specifically for a smaller number of musicians for a chamber or salon setting. Their performance in the acoustically wonderful St. Luke’s makes for sensational listening enjoyment, while allowing for a relatively large audience.
The composers featured in this Fall concert performance span diverse musical styles, from Johann Sebastian Bach, Raeph Vaughan-Williams, and Gioacchino Rossini, to Edvard Grieg and a more contemporary David Diamond. “We are looking forward to playing these distinctly different pieces, and are happy to have four very talented soloists on hand for this concert as well.” added Dr. Kuhns. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto #2 will feature solo performances by well-known violinist, George Friedman, trumpeter, Joseph Place, flutist, Beverly Chesterby, and oboe player, Mick Flackinger.
“The Prescott Strings Classical Chamber Orchestra strives to present innovative concerts that feature both timeless favorites and contemporary masterpieces, hailing from the baroque era through today.” stated Fulton Wright, Strings musician and Orchestra spokesman.
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church is located at 2000 Shepherd’s Lane, just off Ruger Road and Hwy 89 in Prescott. Admission is free, although donations are always appreciated. The Prescott Strings Classical Chamber Orchestra is a 501c(3) organization and in additional to musical entertainment, provides musical scholarship assistance to gifted youth in the community.
