Actonomy, the Belgium based software provider of HRM search technology announced its 3rd generation of smart search/match technology based on web 2.0 semantic matching concepts.
Actonomy’s smart search technology is the first multilingual semantic search platform that understands the context and the meaning of the words one is searching for. Users are no longer faced with poor search results because words have a different meaning in a different context. As an example : while searching for ‘java software developer in London’ with Actonomy, the system will understand that ‘software developer’ is a function, ‘java’ is a competence or expertise and ‘london’ is a city name. Words do get a real meaning and are no longer treated as sets of characters. Even more, words get a meaning in the context of where they are found: ‘java’ will be treated as an IT competence and not as e.g. a location.
Thanks to the semantic modelling, the system understands not only the words but also the context in which they are used.

The newly released ‘smart search’ functionality is based on the existing Actonomy xMP® platform and combines the existing Actonomy ‘guided search’ functionality, the ontology modelling and the semantic modelling into a single platform. Finally search technology allows to search through a single box while understanding the meaning of all words that are used!
Smart search allows to create a total view on matching candidates and vacancies (and vice versa) based on functions, expertise, experience, work experience, education, location and recency of the information. Results are ranked based on relevance and a detailed view on why matches are found is available. The ranking is based on a newly developed scoring mechanism that differs fundamentally from existing scoring mechanisms that are used in standard search engines.
Actonomy xMP® 3rd generation (actonomy.com) is available as a toolkit for rapid integration in jobboards, recruitment service platforms and recruitment solutions used by staffing agencies or corporate customers. It is delivered as a software platform including the unique Actonomy xMP® HRM ontology (delivered in nearly 15 languages).
