The IT training company presented the awards during a glittering gala dinner at the Alton Towers Hotel last Thursday (22/10).The biggest award of the night went to Tony Lockett, who walked away with the Award for National Zenos Outstanding Apprentice. Tony studied at the Academy in Stevenage, and is currently considering employment offers from a number of leading IT companies.
Adrian Bailey from the Manchester Academy won the National Zenos Outstanding Improvement Award, while his fellow Manchester graduate Gary Tattersall scooped the National CompTIA Outstanding Apprentice. Gary is now working at EDS.
The National Microsoft Apprentice Award went to Tom White from the Zenos Academy in Banbury, and he is now employed at SafelinQ UK Ltd.
Each winner was presented with a cheque, trophy and certificate for their achievements.
The winners were chosen from a shortlist of 14 candidates, drawn up after the regional finals held back in July. Each candidate was then judged against rigorous criteria in all four award categories by a specially selected panel.
The success of the inaugural awards means that the new intake of learners, who started their programme of study in September, are now working hard to try and secure their place on the shortlist for next year’s awards.
Zenos is the UK’s leading IT training provider for 16 to 18 year old, with more than a thousand students in 23 Academies across the country. More than 80 per cent of Zenos graduates find suitable employment within weeks of leaving, and many go on to achieve further qualifications.
