Highlights of Cookie Jar 7 include a new contemporary look and feel that complements their recent rebrand, usability improvements to all areas of the content management system that enhance the user experience, a major overhaul of the content model and the addition of In-Context Editing.
Improving efficiencies during web development, creating a user friendly content management experience and developing a scalable product were the key objectives for developing Cookie Jar 7. A modern java framework that allows a consistent look and feel through the implementation of reusable and extendable components, has allowed the developers to build templates more efficiently, the user interface has been completely rewritten to create a much more intuitive user experience, and ensure Cookie Jar is future proof.
In-Context Editing is a major milestone in the products history, allowing Content Editors to easily maintain their content from the public facing website instead of trying to find the content through a hierarchy structure within the CMS interface.
Other updates include an email ingestion feature to allow authors to contribute content to the website via email or redistribute the content to users of pre-defined groups.
Solid State Group has been developing websites on Cookie Jar and integrating with Google Apps to enable knowledge sharing and powerful intranet features. They have also delivered insight into many of the new Google products including the developers preview of Google Wave.
