Nearly one month after being selected as a semi-finalist, Grow Green Industries, INC., the makers of EAT CLEANER™, today announced that it has been selected as a Finalist in Inc. Magazine’s Newpreneur™ of the Year competition. EAT CLEANER™ was awarded the honor after delivering a 90-second “elevator pitch” to a panel of judges, including notable business author and speaker Tom Searcy, Alibaba.com and Kelly Sang, Director of International Business for Alibaba.
“We are thrilled beyond belief and so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in the few months since we launched the company, despite the downturn in the economy,” commented Mareya Ibrahim, Founder and President, Grow Green industries, INC. “Having the acknowledgment of our peers and the vote of confidence from Alibaba and Inc. Magazine validates our product and just reaffirms our timing is right.” The company was selected from a total of 5 semi-finalists in the Los Angeles region at an event held at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, and was judged based on the quality of the presentation, ability to use the economic recession as a catalyst to start the business, demonstration of the need for a $50,000 business grant and overall plan to use Alibaba to grow the business.
Consumers will be invited to vote online for the finalists at to help advance companies to the final competition, held in San Francisco on November 18, 2009 where the grand prize of $50,000 will be given to the winner along with other grants, and the title of Newpreneur™ of the Year.
EAT CLEANER™ was developed by Founder and President, Mareya Ibrahim, a food marketing veteran, and her father, Dr. Shawki Ibrahim, a Colorado State University Emeritus Professor, Ph.D., Environmental Health Science and M.A., Agriculture. “We say the time is ripe for EAT CLEANER™ because in spite of government efforts, our national food supply is still not as safe as it should be,” said Mareya Ibrahim. “Consumer confidence in food safety is rapidly eroding; add the fact is grocery retail is thriving because more people are cooking at home.”
