NewswireToday - /newswire/ - St Albans, Herts, United Kingdom, 10/13/2009 - The UK-based, specialist healthcare quality, innovation and productivity improvement enabler, Amnis, has agreed a programme of five one-day workshops with the Institute of Healthcare Management (IHM).

Beginning with ‘Service Improvement & Lean for Managers and Executives’ (in London, on 27th October), the series continues with ‘Developing a Culture of Continuous Improvement’ (Birmingham, 17th November); ‘Problem Solving Tools for Service Improvement & Innovation’ (London, 1st December); ‘Sustaining Lean’ (Birmingham, 19th January 2010), and concludes with ‘Thinking Strategically’ (Birmingham, 9th February).

The IHM’s Phil Slinger commented: “The IHM is the professional organisation for managers throughout healthcare - including the NHS; independent providers; healthcare consultants and the Armed Forces. Our focus is on improving patient/user care through the promotion of excellence in healthcare management.

“Our members abide by the Healthcare Management Code which requires managers to keep their skills and competences up to date and so we are delighted to be able to add these five workshops to our portfolio of continuous professional development (CPD) resources.”

“The five workshops tackle key issues in today’s healthcare sector: the application of Lean principles to improve service provision; continuous improvement; problem solving, and strategic thinking,” he added. “These are vital issues for healthcare managers – and their approach to these issues has important consequences for their staff and those for whom they care.”

Mark Eaton, managing director of Amnis, added: “As a consultancy which specialises in innovation, transformation and organisational improvement, helping clients plan and deploy strategies for successful transformation, Amnis helps its clients not only to deliver sustainable change but also to develop their capability to tackle their next challenges. Consequently, our partnership with the IHM is intended to help develop the skills and capabilities of healthcare managers working across the UK.”
