Richmond, London, United Kingdom, 2009/10/12 - Small businesses are poised to expand, with 49 per cent planning to expand in the next 12 months. In response to these findings, Barclays have created the Let’s Talk Preparing for Growth event, which is coming to businesses across the country.
Free business event, aimed at helping businesses take advantage of the upturn, coming to Southampton next, on Thursday 22nd October.
Small businesses are poised to expand in the near future with 49 per cent planning to expand in the next 12 months, according to research from the Barclays Have Your Say survey of local businesses*. In addition, around 34 per cent are looking to stay the same or consolidate.
In response to these findings, Barclays have created the Let’s Talk Preparing for Growth event, which is aimed at helping businesses prepare for the upturn.
The event is coming to Southampton on Thursday 22nd October, 6pm, and is completely free for local businesses. Business owners will hear from René Carayol, world-renowned business guru, television personality and successful entrepreneur; have the chance to network with around 100 like-minded business owners; and are able to get practical advice from business experts Barclays, ACCA and Business Link.
Business Secretary Lord Mandelson said: "This is an important initiative by Barclays, which I hope helps small businesses get the support they need to grow.
"Small firms depend on bank lending to fulfil their potential, and any move like this by lenders to help businesses deal with new challenges is encouraging. There is plenty of free advice available for small firms to help them succeed, including from Business Link, and it is important that they take advantage of the full range of support on offer.”
Steve Cooper, Managing Director of Barclays Local Business said: “It appears a large number of small businesses are poised to expand when the time is right, perhaps taking advantage of any upturn in the economy. A sizeable percentage are also not downsizing during the recession, which is an achievement in itself.”
