Joy Fabiano presents GI Joy’s Fall Runway Show featuring the company’s fall/winter collection of recycled handbags. Owner & Designer, Rachel Sanches, single-handedly produced this season’s handbags, which are predominately military themed and constructed from local service member’s uniforms. 10% of sales from this collection will be donated to Give to the Troops, a non-profit organization which sends care packages to US troops overseas.
The handmade, twenty-nine piece collection will make its debut on the runway at 7pm on October 15th at Prospect Bar & Grill in La Jolla. The show will also include clothing from Pure Boutique and a raffle to win a Joy Fabiano cosmetic bag.
Sanches will also be sporting the first-ever Joy Fabiano couture dress, a handmade strapless sheath dress inspired by the military pieces from the fall/winter collection. Sanches hopes to delve into a new market with a couture line of dresses in 2010.
In September 2009, former Joy Fabiano co-owner, Yadira Santiago left the partnership to pursue other career opportunities, leaving the company in the hands of Sanches, who looks forward to expanding Joy Fabiano’s product line and setting trends in eco-fashion.
