The acclaimed IBMA 2009 convention was well attended by enthusiastic bluegrass fans from around the globe. Participants ranged from Deering Banjo to songwriters and fiddle players. The Thursday night award ceremony included 6 nominations for banjo friend Steve Martin (2 wins) who presented the Vocal Group of the Year Award with Tony Trischka.
At Booth #24, the Tony Trischka School of Banjo, activities were bustling with Friday afternoon performances by Tony Trischka and Bob Carlin and fiddle player Alex Hargreaves. Fan Fest participants signed up for the possibility of getting a free one year enrollment at Tony's new generation Banjo School online.
