Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corporation, the world’s leading manufacturer of custom high voltage power conversion products, announces the successful completion of the first phase of its Six Sigma program.
Six Sigma is a business management strategy that complements Spellman’s existing lean manufacturing and focuses on reducing manufacturing variation, defects, and inefficiencies.
Spellman launched Six Sigma in its production facilities in Hauppauge (New York) and Matamoros (Mexico) in 2008, by hiring an outside accrediting organization to conduct intensive training. So far, five Six Sigma Green Belts have been certified and 4 additional Green belts will be certified later this year.
According to David Gillispie Vice President of Operations, and Six Sigma Black Belt, "The introduction of Six Sigma will improve our processes and reduce variation in manufacturing. It contributes to our quality commitment to understand and to provide what our customers value. Six Sigma is a valuable addition to our capabilities and will ensure we achieve sustained improvements and bottom line results."
