With E-Flex, a breakthrough has been achieved in the design structure of press fabrics. Paper mills who installed E-Flex achieved excellent and fast machine start-ups, higher nip dewatering values and better paper quality. All in all they reduced costs.
It's a matter of structurally optimized fabrics that lastingly influence fabric characteristics over the running time through targeted placement of polymer particles. The pressure transmission in the nip is homogenized. In addition, the polymer structure brings about an improved resilience of the press fabric and thus stable dewatering characteristics over the entire running time. Flow resistance is reduced in the 'Z direction' due to optimally set pore volume and the water can flow more rapidly through the fabric, into the grooves of the cover. A further advantage is the improved abrasion resistance of the paper and the roll side of the fabric.
All press fabrics that have the specially developed polymer structure come under the family name of E-Flex.
The structural optimization with polymers can be worked into the various levels of the press fabric, depending on which characteristics need to be optimized. The structural optimization of the papermaking surface optimizes the start-up behavior and gives an improved paper and board surface. Optimization of the basic structure increases the active resilience of the fabric, so the characteristics of the fabric are kept more constant over the running period (steady state performance).
On the roll side, the targeted placement of polymers can increase abrasion resistance and thus bring about an improvement in running time.
The E-Flex series is another positive step towards meeting the requirements of the most varied press positions over the entire running time, by giving both better quality and cost savings.
