Tulsa is pleased to be selected to host the 81st Annual IAEI Southern Section Meeting and Code Conference. The conference will be held October 11-14, 2009 at the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center.
IAEI educational sessions are the very best available, interactive classrooms with industry experts and NEC code panelists. The classes include: Short-Circuit Current & the NEC; Emergency Power System Protection; Where Utility Supply & Premises Wiring Meet; Code Panel Discussions. The Code Panel Discussions are on a variety of NEC topics. Attendees will also have an opportunity to submit questions from the floor.
John Staires, from the Oklahoma IAEI Chapter, talks about the importance of quality electrical education, “The Oklahoma Electrical Licensing Act requires all persons performing electrical work to prove competency through licensing. In order to become a licensed electrical journeyman or electrical contractor, you must successfully complete a comprehensive examination, but the competency requirements do not end there. Each licensed person must complete continuing education on the latest electrical codes and standards, as electrical products are constantly evolving and changing. The International Association of Electrical Inspectors was founded in 1928 to promote electrical safety. Through the years, IAEI has made major contributions to the development of codes and standards, and IAEI has long provided the finest and most comprehensive electrical training available. Training through IAEI ensures that the participant receives the latest information directly from the individuals who help develop the codes, and also that the training is accurate and consistent. All facets of the electrical industry are represented in IAEI membership, including installers, inspectors, manufacturers and third-party product evaluation organizations.”

The IAEI Southern Section includes Oklahoma, NC, VA, GA, TX, FL, SC, TN, LA, MS and AL. IAEI members include electrical and building inspectors, electrical contractors, engineers, utility engineers, testing laboratory inspectors and technicians, electrical equipment and component manufacturing specialists and more. Many proposals from the IAEI end up being adopted as Code.
