Fox Expands Line of Automotive-grade Ceramic Surface Mount Devices

NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Sellersville, PA, United States, 09/16/2009 - Fox Electronics, a leading global supplier of frequency control solutions, has expanded its line of RoHS-compliant ceramic SMD (surface mount device) automotive-grade crystals to include two smaller package sizes.

The new 3.2 mm x 2.5 mm FXA3225B series with a frequency range from 12 MHz to 52 MHz and the 2.5 mm x 2.0 mm FXA2520B series with a 16 MHz to 50 MHz frequency range are ideal for use in several automotive devices and systems. These include GPS navigation, high-end audio and video, collision warning, onboard computer, Bluetooth and climate control.

Fox’s automotive-grade crystals, specifically engineered to withstand higher levels of shock and vibration in extended temperature ranges, are also available in a 5 mm x 3 mm size with a frequency range of 8 MHz to 150 MHz (FXA5032B) as well as a larger 7 mm x 5 mm size with a 6 MHz to 133 MHz frequency range (FXA7050B).

All Fox automotive-grade crystals have standard frequency stabilities from ±50 ppm to ±100 ppm and operating temperatures from -40°C to +125°C. Additionally, the entire line features a drive level of 100 microwatts and a maximum soldering temperature of 260°C per 10 seconds. The crystals also have a gold termination finish and are seam sealed to reduce the infiltration of foreign matter and moisture into the package.

The new FXA2520B series and the FXA3225B series have a load capacitance of 7 pF and a ±5 ppm aging per year, compared to the larger FXA5032B and FXA7050B series load capacitance of 10 pF with a ±3 ppm aging per year.

The automotive-grade crystal line meets AEC-Q200, the Automotive Electronics Council Stress Test Qualification for Passive Components.

For quantities of 10,000, pricing for the FXA2520B starts at $0.49 per unit and at $0.59 per unit for the FXA3225B. Delivery is eight weeks ARO.
