Openet, the leading provider of Transactional Intelligence for the world’s largest and most innovative network service providers, has announced that its Fair Usage solution has been named a winner in the International Engineering Consortium’s (IEC) 2009 InfoVision Awards in the “Network and Services Management and Operations” category. The 2009 InfoVision Award winners were announced on Monday, September 7, at the Broadband World Forum in Paris.
Openet’s Fair Usage solution, which is based on Openet’s Policy Manager and Convergent Charging products, allows wireless, wireline and cable operators to capture profitability from their data services by enforcing limits on subscriber usage volume. With this solution, operators are able to regulate and control network bandwidth while also offering subscribers the chance to purchase additional network bandwidth if needed to provide optimal services across all subscriber levels. This ability to interact with subscribers and provide opportunities for upselling is a key differentiator for Openet, and offers operators both revenue lift potential and the chance to create an optimal user experience.
“Bandwidth is a finite resource, and as data-hungry features and applications become more and more commonplace, service providers are struggling to find the balance between meeting customer demands and ensuring fair access for all subscribers,” said Openet CEO Niall Norton. “Openet’s history of market responsiveness and foresight led to the creation of the award-winning Fair Usage solution to enable operators to provide optimal service to all customers while exerting maximum control over network resources.”
“The IEC’s InfoVision Awards give tribute to the top broadband technologies in deployment today. We’re pleased to recognize Openet as a Winner for its Fair Usage solution in the Network and Services Management and Operations category,” commented IEC President John Janowiak.”
