Antique hounds who love antiquing on Vancouver Island now have another resource to help them plan their quests. VanIsleAntiques.com is a new website; a companion to the printed "Vancouver Island Antiques and Collectables Guide" that many Islanders and tourists have used for a number of years. As a website, VanIsleAntiques lists current information 24/7/365!
On the home page, antique hunters have the option of signing up for the monthly electronic newsletter. Each month, subscribers will be apprised of upcoming events, learn about a different antique shop or service, and have the most common antique questions answered by Island antique dealers.
"On the site itself, antique shops and services are presented by region, so that people can plan their stops in a logical way. Business owners who have advertising space on each page have their logo or shop photo displayed, along with their name, address, phone number and a link to their website," explains Elizabeth Campbell Duke, owner of Blinking Star Antiques in Union Bay and the web site's creator. "We've made an effort to locate and list every dealer and service on the island. Businesses who have elected not to advertise still have their business name and address listed on each page below the Google Map. You just have to keep scrolling down to find them."
In addition to the contact information for all of Vancouver Island's antique shops and services, you will find a page devoted exclusively to upcoming events. Events listed to date include upcoming workshops on general antiques, antique furniture and sterling silver. Also listed is the 2nd annual "Christmas of Hope" fundraiser for the BC Cancer Foundation that takes place each December.
If you're a fan of antiques and love to haunt antique shops on Vancouver Island, visit the site, subscribe to the free e-newsletter, and tell your favourite antique dealers that you saw them on VanIsleAntiques.com.
