The top lot of the sale, lot 1091, is a dress uniform of General Dwight D. Eisenhower. This is a custom tailored "Ike" jacket, made by the Clipper Craft Clothes, with ribbons for the Distinguished Service Medal (two oak leaf clusters), Navy Distinguished Service medal, and Legion of Merit. Bidding opens at $15,000.
A dozen Nathan Starr swords are offered in lots 1001-6, 1009-13, 1018 and 1818. Nathan Starr is one of the earliest identified American sword makers and his works are highly collectable. Minimum bids range from $250 to $1,300.
Also of note is lot 1092, a silver humidor presented to Lt. General Walter Bedell “Beedle” Smith, Eisenhower’s Chief of Staff and the coordinator of the invasion at Normandy. The humidor bears the insignia of the SHAEF and an inscription: "Lieutenant General Walter Beedle Smith, United States Army, from His British Friends at Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force 1944-1945". Bidding begins at $4,000.
