Winwatch SA, a swiss company is patenting the world's first RFID enabled crystal gasket, ready to be put in any type of wristwatch. Winwatch announces the availability of a corresponding starter kit.

Winwatch’s patent pending technology has been especially developed for the luxury watch industry to offer primarily improvements in the optimization of internal processes in the manufacturing process. Whether time-consuming quality control or countless steps by skilled, qualified personnel or robots, the workflow must always be clearly documented. RFID ensures the traceability (identity, data-history, location) of the luxury watch. But, of course, it also opens to the luxury watchmaking industry completely new perspectives in logistics and supply chain, and RFID does also help fighting counterfeiting and gray market. Watch manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, customs authorities, or ultimately, the buyer can always determine the status or history, or the location of the luxury watch, thanks to commercially available readers that are compliant with the global EPC (Electronic Product Code) standard. EPC stands for rational product tracing in real time anywhere in the world, for safety and better customer service!

Giving luxury watch brands and manufacturers the capability to incorporate easily RFID technology, securely and economically for the first time in their luxury wristwatches, Winwatch SA today announced availability of the ‘RFID crystal gasket’ starter kit and sampling of its EPCclass1 gen2 enabled crystal gaskets by autumn 2009. Winwatch SA unveiled its first version of the starter kit to ease design implementation and offer low-cost for the watch industry. Available in a prototyping version, the starter kit allows the watch brands and manufacturers the exploration of the unique features offered by Winwatch’s technology.

Availability:
The starter kit will be available by the end of autumn 2009 (the package comprising: 1 EPC/RFID Reader + 1 testpiece with watchcase/crystal/RFID-gasket + 10 samples RFID-gaskets + 1 demo software; Price on request)
