NextComputing Introduces Portable Workstation 32GB RAM

NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Nashua, NH, United States, 08/26/2009 - Several systems from NextComputing, including the portable NextDimension Pro and Evo series as well as the NextServer Evo, are now available with up to 32GB RAM.

NextComputing, manufacturer of high-performance, portable workstations and servers, announces the availability of up to 32GB of system memory (RAM) on the company’s portable, briefcase-sized NextDimension Pro and Evo series workstation/server computers, and 3U rackmount server, the NextServer Evo.

This latest enhancement adds to the portable NextDimension’s already robust feature set, which currently includes up to 8 cores of enterprise-class AMD Opteron™ or Intel® Xeon® processing, modular PCI Express and PCI-X expansion capability, support for the highest-end graphics cards, and upwards of 10 terabytes (TB) of internal storage. NextDimension is unique in its class, being the only portable computer weighing under 25 lbs to support this much RAM, as well as being small enough to bring on an airplane.

With their maximized memory, NextDimensions are ideal for on-the-spot large volume rendering, manipulating highly complex data sets or 3D scenes, or playing back high-resolution video frames. Users in medical imaging, CAD/EDA, oil and gas, and digital visual content creation—industries that traditionally depend on a desk side workstation—can now take more computing power wherever they go than ever before.

For industries that require a more traditional rackmount form-factor in a fixed location, the NextServer Evo offers identical performance to the NextDimension series, as well as enhanced storage capabilities from 16 front-access removable 3.5" SAS or SATA hard drives plus additional internal storage—all inside a 3U chassis. This unique storage capability, when combined with up to 32GB of RAM, offers users a powerful and flexible server platform for high-speed data streaming applications.
