Dollar Loan Center Launches Reading Challenge at Las Vegas Elementary School

NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Las Vegas, NV, United States, 08/20/2009 - Nevada's largest short-term lending company launched the Dollar Loan Center Reading Challenge at a high-risk Las Vegas school with a goal of reading 2,000 books.

Vail Pittman Elementary is buzzing with excitement and teachers are busy planning their fall reading schedules. The Las Vegas school is Dollar Loan Center’s first participant in the Dollar Loan Center/Chuck Brennan Reading Challenge. The new program rolls out this week and Pittman’s goal is to read 2,000 books collectively by the end of the year.

“Dollar Loan Center has generously chosen Pittman Elementary as the inaugural school in its reading program and we are up to the challenge,” said principal David Frydman. “For every book our students read, Dollar Loan Center will give $1 to the school. Our goal is to have our students read 2,000 books by the end of the year.”

A reading challenge was a natural choice for Dollar Loan Center’s new school-based charity program, said CEO Chuck Brennan. “Reading is one of the most important skills a student can have and we want to encourage that in a fun way,” said Brennan. “Learning to enjoy reading can open a child’s imagination and help them become more proficient in every area of their lives.”

Brennan is founder of Dollar Loan Center, with 53 locations throughout Nevada, Utah and South Dakota. A successful entrepreneur and avid reader, Brennan plans to introduce reading programs in each of Dollar Loan Center’s markets within the next few years.

“We wanted to choose a school that has a greater degree of need for funding, and our donation could make a real impact at Vail Pittman,” said Brennan. “The students are amazing and deserve to have every opportunity to grow and learn at school.”

Frydman plans to use the donation in a way that will honor Brennan’s personal love for music and education. “We are planning to use the donations from Dollar Loan Center for teacher resources and add books to our school library. These are things we wouldn’t have been able to do without their support and we are very grateful.”

Dollar Loan Center (dontbebroke.com) is a division of DLC Empire, which also includes Clark County Collection Service and Loan Shack. It is a premier provider of short term signature loans in 53 locations throughout South Dakota, Nevada and Utah. Dollar Loan Center is the largest provider of short term credit services in South Dakota and Clark County (Las Vegas) Nevada. In 2007, Entrepreneur Magazine listed the company among its “Hot 500” Fastest Growing Businesses and Entrepreneurs.”
