(Newswire Today) —  Raleigh, NC, United States, 2009-08-20 - Mike Desorbo joins non-profit group providing reliable transportation to the low-income.

Wheels4Hope (W4H), a faith based, non-profit group that repairs and refurbishes donated vehicles and provides them at low cost to low-income families and individuals, is happy to announce the appointment of Mike DeSorbo to the Board of Directors. DeSorbo has more than 38-years of experience in the automotive industry and currently serves as the vice president of commercial marketing at General Parts International/CarQuest. His motivational presentations have sent him across North America for the past 25 years conducting hundreds of seminars covering all aspects of sales, management, teambuilding, and leadership for small business owners.

"I am very proud and excited to be part of an organization that has done so much good for those in need of transportation in the Raleigh area,” said DeSorbo. “I look forward to being able to contribute so W4H can expand their reach into the greater Triangle area and beyond in order help more families in need.”

DeSorbo championed CarQuest Technical Institute (CTI) and has led the CTI team to become the Aftermarket's leading provider of technical and business management training for automotive technicians and service facility owner operators in North America.

"Every once in a while you get lucky and find a great fit for your organization,” said Board Chair Dick Rose. “Mike DeSorbo appears to offer just what W4H needs: experience, enthusiasm, altruism and the right business at CarQuest to complement our aims."

Along with serving on the Board for W4H he also is on the Board of Directors for CCAR/GreenLink, Board of Governors for ASE, Chair of the ASE Parts Specialist Committee, a member of the Service Consultant Development Committee and a member of AAIA's Education Committee. He has conducted several classes for the Aftermarket program at The Ohio State University, Fisher School of Business.

About Wheels 4 Hope (W4H)
Wheels4Hope (Wheels4Hope.org) is a faith based, volunteer-driven non-profit corporation and a fully qualified 501(c)(3) charity serving the greater Raleigh area. Their primary mission is to accept, repair and refurbish donated vehicles and provide them at low cost to low-wage families and individuals who are referred to W4H for this purpose by one of several partner social service agencies.

Wheels4Hope exists only through the efforts and selflessness of numerous volunteers and partner businesses who understand that reliable transportation is a vital component for self-sufficiency – a requirement for stable employment and for the pursuit of educational opportunities.

Thanks to the generosity of local citizens who are willing to donate their used vehicles to help low-wage members of their community, W4H continues to grow. Donations to W4H enable donors to directly help others in our community, renew existing resources and maximize their tax deduction.
