“GRC is emerging as an enterprise-wide initiative, but remains a concept that is sometimes misunderstood and is still in the development stages within most companies,” said Jim Larsen, director of knowledge management at Resources. “Business leaders need to fully understand GRC, sometimes referred to as "convergence" and its implications for their company.’’
Mr. Larsen will discuss key issues on the horizon for executives who manage GRC initiatives for their enterprise. The discussion will include best practices and priorities for leaders. This session will provide a brief overview of the convergence of these three once disparate areas. The focus of the discussion will center on building a company culture around GRC.
Jim Larsen, an expert in enterprise risk management, is a key leader in the audit, risk and compliance practice of Resources. He has worked extensively with clients to establish processes that comply with the Sarbanes Oxley Act, reengineer audit processes, assess risk, and implement strategic co-sourcing solutions. As a practitioner, Mr. Larsen served in a variety of management positions across 21 years with Cargill, Inc. in internal audit, accounting, IT, project management, and human resources. During his tenure, Cargill’s Audit Department migrated to a risk driven, integrated audit approach. In 1998, Cargill’s Internal Audit Department won CFO Magazine’s Reach Award for Excellence in Internal Auditing. Mr. Larsen has extensive experience in business process redesign, multi-process risk assessment, strategic planning, the total quality process, and integrated system controls.
