Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort, an award-winning 470-room resort located on a secluded beach on Phuket’s southwestern coast, recently became the only seaside hotel in Thailand to be included in this year’s prestigious World’s Best 2009 Top 100 Hotels and Top 15 Resorts in Asia as voted by readers of the internationally-circulated Travel + Leisure Magazine.
Travel & Leisure Magazine readers cast their votes in the 14th annual survey of the World’s Best, and Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort scored an impressive 89.75 score, placing it #82 on the world’s Top 100 hotels and #12 on Asia’s 15 Best Resorts lists. Readers based their votes on the hotel’s environment, ambiance, hospitality, service and accommodations.
“We’re both humbled and proud to be held in high regard and placed in company with other distinguished hotels and resorts in the world,” said Rudolf Borgesius, General Manager of Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort. “Our aim is to continually enrich guest experience, providing pleasant discovery at each and every visit. We’re thankful that our guests and Travel + Leisure readers appreciate our efforts again,” he added.
The accolade follows closely on the heels of the resort’s announcement of a multi-phased enhancement project aimed at providing its rooms and suites with a host of upgrades including new décor as part of a dynamic focus on culture and refinement, larger bathroom space and redesigned fixtures complemented by designer amenities and improved sound isolation.
Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort (lemeridien.com) is situated on 40 acres of lush tropical greenery and features a secluded 500-metre pristine beach, two oversized swimming pools, 10 restaurants and bars, over 1,310 square meters of floor space for indoor and outdoor events of up to 980 persons and a complete range of water sports and recreational facilities.
The resort is a 45-minute drive from Phuket International Airport and just minutes away from some of Phuket’s popular sites, including the shopping and restaurant district of Patong.
