Gold parties have been gaining in popularity as the price of gold began rising during this recession. "A gold party is a new twist on selling unwanted gold." Stein says that interest in selling unwanted gold has climbed along with the commodity price of gold. "Earlier this year, gold was selling for more than $1,000 per ounce. In a recession, people are looking for creative ways to bring in extra cash, and a gold party does just that."

Stein says that the partner program is a key part of the company's success. Gold Party Magic (goldpartymagic.com) operates primarily in Southern Florida, but Stein is looking to expand his business throughout the state of Florida, and eventually nationwide. "People tend to collect broken gold, mainly because there's no good way to dispose of it. Before the price of gold went so high, many people would simply throw broken gold away. Stein says that gold parties enable dealers to recycle precious metals more easily and help prevent precious metals from ending up in the local landfill.
