Isha Development (formerly called Isha Homes) and Farmington Square, LLC proudly announce the grand-opening of the first tenant in Raleigh’s newest retail shopping center: Farmington Square at 2800 Rock Quarry Rd. Family Dollar will celebrate commencement of business on Saturday, August 8, 2009. Festivities will begin at 8:00 am and will continue throughout the day. Family Dollar plans to offer free drinks and snacks during the day.

“We are very proud to see our vision for economic revitalization in this community actually coming to fruition,” said Jawahar Muniyandi, CEO of Isha Development and the driving force behind the planned economic development for the southeast Raleigh community. “This is an area that is critically underserved on many levels. We are committed to changing that situation.”

The center’s second tenant will be Yancy’s at Farmington, scheduled to open in November, 2009. “I am thrilled at the thought of being back in the kitchen and cooking for all of my friends in South East Raleigh,” said Chef Yancey, known as the “Gumbo King of Raleigh. “I will not only be serving my signature recipes, but also providing top quality entertainment with live Jazz, Blues and R&B music.”

Plans for additional tenants of the center, scheduled for final completion in December, 2009, include a bank, De Todo Hispanic grocery store, child day-care, beauty spa, and dry cleaners, as well as office space and health care practices. When fully leased, it is estimated that the tenants will create from 200 to 250 new jobs.

Isha Development plans to develop a Senior Living community and houses in Southeast Raleigh. “Our motto is, ‘Building Prosperity for Humanity,’ and that is exactly what we intend to do in southeast Raleigh,” said Mr. Muniyandi. “There is no reason that business cannot profit while being a good neighbor and giving back to the community.”

The project was financed by Crescent State Bank of Cary, NC and NC Community Development Initiative, which is a local funding agency. Both Crescent State Bank and NC Community Development support economic revitalization and community development projects. Leasing and Management of Farmington Square is being handled by York Properties. Representatives will be present at the opening to show available spaces and discuss leasing opportunities.
