The theme for the 9th annual Southwest Learning Summit and Exposition on Aug. 18, 2009 is Go to Grow. This event is sponsored by the Dallas chapter of ASTD. ASTD members include corporate training professionals, educators and teachers, human resource professionals, consultants, universities and students. The mission of the chapter is to provide leadership and resources to Human Resource Development professionals.
The Go to Grow program includes 3 educational topics offered via 9 presentations, a panel discussion with local Chief Learning Officers, and multiple exhibitors offering various training materials and other knowledge growth opportunities. The three topic areas for 2009 are e-learning, leadership development, and career development for trainers. The facilitated panel discussion topic is “Leading Development Practices That Improve Organization Performance”. Panel members include Christine Cernach, Phyllis Wright, and Bob Willey. In addition to exhibitors, a resource center where participants can browse books and meet local authors will be available. Local authors who will be at the resource center will include: Deborah Avrin, Shirley Lee, Carlos Sanchez, and Doris Sims.
Every year this event attracts hundreds of participants including decision makers from dozens of the largest Texas employers. Additionally through networking at this event, the participants can share new learning ideas, the latest trends in training, and best development practices to help their employees accomplish performance excellence.
