Primary Care Physicians often refer patients for dermatological procedures that the physician could have performed in the office setting. Patients expect a physician to be able to care for many of the skin problems that require a dermatological procedure. Primary Care Physicians are increasingly becoming interested in learning to perform many of the Dermatology procedures, due to the high demand from patients and the additional revenue that these procedures can create. In addition to the quantity of patients requesting this service, Dermatological procedures can create a significant financial impact on a medical practice.
The Dermatology program is a Hands-On Workshop that is taught by a Board Certified Dermatologist that will simplify these procedures and create a comfort level for the student performing them. The course covers cryosurgery, radiofrequency excision, modern Electrosurgery, biopsy techniques, and basic suturing principles. Specific treatments for lipomas, seborrheics, basal cell and squamous cell cancers, melanomas, ingrown toenails, warts, cysts, actinics, skin tags, chalazions, abscesses and many others. Cryosurgery techniques include liquid nitrogen, nitrous oxide, and hand-held cryo units, learn how to treat the most common skin disorders using these modalities.
This is a comprehensive program that covers a variety of common problems that a physician can easily treat including the following conditions i.e. most skin lesions, epilation, ingrown toenails, telangiectasias of the face, and more. Learn to perform all types of skin biopsy: punch, shave, curettement, and excision. The physician will gain proficiency during the Hands-On Training sessions and perform the various dermatology procedures that can be utilized in an outpatient setting: cryosurgery, Electrosurgery, biopsy and excision with repair.
With Empire Medical Training each student will be able to recognize the numerous skin lesions that can be treated surgically in a primary care setting. Correctly utilize the various types of equipment needed to perform each procedure and the equipment is readily affordable. Each student will learn the specific methods to ensure consistent and appropriate reimbursement for each procedure and how to market this new service within an existing practice to present patients and new ones.
