The company is working with the British Red Cross to raise money for the organisation, highlighting the BRC’s inaugural Big Red Ride from London to Eastbourne on Sunday July 26th. Olympic cycling champion Victoria Pendleton will be riding with hundreds of cyclists from Blackheath Common in south-east London to Eastbourne seafront.
ECD Sports is donating £2 of every sale of its revolutionary noseless saddle, the ECD Seat, to the British Red Cross until the end of the event. The ECD Seat has a startlingly different profile. The long thin part of the seat, known as the ‘nose’, has been removed to reduce pressure on the sensitive perineum area.
This gives a wide range of riders the enjoyment and health benefits of a longer ride without of discomfort or risk to health. The ECD Seat has already attracted positive reports in the Telegraph, Cycling Plus magazine and online.
The brand founders are Jonathan Wallach and Mark Burns, whose interest in cycling without unnecessary discomfort prompted them to launch the ECD Seat.
Jonathan Wallach says: “The British Red Cross do a phenomenal amount of good work around the world and the Big Red Ride gives us a wonderful opportunity to support its aims.”
Mark Burns says: “We launched ECD to promote innovative and healthy sports and lifestyle products - and the Big Red Ride, with Victoria Pendleton as flag bearer, is a very positive way to involve people in cycling for health as well as raise funds for the British Red Cross.”
Lucy Gregory, senior events officer at the British Red Cross says: “Our first Big Red Ride is attracting a lot of interest from people who want to raise money by cycling to Eastbourne and we welcome the support of ECD Sports for the event.”
The ECD Seat is simple and quick to fit on most styles of bike, and available in two designs: Vinyl - Foam at £39.99 and Lycra - Gel at £49.99. They can be bought directly from ECD online.
