ICx Technologies (NASDAQ: ICXT), a developer of advanced sensor technologies for homeland security, force protection and commercial applications, announced today that the U.S. Army has purchased Fido® XTi™ explosives-detection systems for use by the Afghan National Army and the Afghan National Police.
The Fido XTi is the international version of the combat-proven Fido XT, considered to be the world's most sensitive handheld explosives detection system. The Fido XTi features a modified user-interface, weighs less than three pounds, and provides trace detection of explosive materials or contamination.
“Our mission is to support the U.S. military and its allies with the most sensitive and field-ready explosives-detection systems available” said Colin Cumming, CEO of ICx Technologies. “We are proud that this order gives further affirmation that ICx continues to provide exceptional, combat-proven detection products and solutions.”
As part of the contract, ICx will also provide in-country training and support services. The company began shipping units at the end of June.
