The new site is designed to answer, in plain English, the most common of questions about compromise agreements. These agreements, which are also commonly referred to as redundancy or termination agreements, have become increasingly common in the current economic environment, due to the increased number of redundancies.
The essence of a compromise agreement is an agreement between employer and employee to mutually terminate the employment relationship, regardless of any background issues relating to redundancy or other potential claims, such as unfair dismissal, discrimination or other. In short, the employee waives almost every right to make a claim against the employer and in return, the employer generally pays the employee, an extra amount, over and above contractual entitlements, for signing the agreement.
