	KTXA 21 News began a summer-long commitment with their “Survive in ‘09” series in an effort to provide information to help viewers in this challenging economy. Calloway’s Nursery partnered with the station to show their audience how to make a home garden from start to finish. Since that time Calloway’s Store Manager, Ty Poynter, worked diligently on the station’s garden by preparing the soil, tending the garden, and harvesting the vegetables. The fruit of their labor was realized in June when Poynter harvested more than 45 pounds of high quality produce. Tracy Kornet, KTXA news anchor, contacted the Denton Community Food Bank, and Poynter delivered the bounty to the food bank’s chairperson, Tom Newell, last week. “I am so pleased to know that in addition to achieving the goal of creating a successful vegetable garden, we have actually shown the world the true values of humanity by giving back in any way we can,” Poynter remarked.
