"Rock The Arts,” a music concert and art exhibit, will be held this Friday night at the Elks Opera House on Gurley St in downtown Prescott. Geared toward younger adults in an effort to raise local arts awareness in the Prescott community, Rock The Arts is being sponsored in part by Desert Sky Media and The Q 102.9.
Doors open at 6:30 pm and performances start at 7pm. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door and $10 with student ID and can be purchased by visiting the Elks Opera House website. As part of this event, an art exhibit will be set up in the front lobby of the Elks Opera House (elksoperahouse.com) where local artists, both young and senior, will be showing their outstanding work. Most of the art will be available for sale.
Attendees can look forward to a few giveaways (gift certificates, art supplies, etc) that we'll be distributed throughout the evening.
Musical guests for Friday's concert are Telescope, Angie Raess, Good With Grenades and Chloe Stuff will be performing for the evening.
Combined rock music and tactile art displays are springing up across the country this summer, all in an effort to bring entertainment and art appreciation to young people. From Hot Summer Nights in South Carolina to Jarvis in Paris (France not Texas), creative minds are bringing rock music into art galleries and visa-versa. While previous endeavors have leaned more toward single musician or classical background music in the presence of sculpture and oils, Rock The Arts will be the first actual rock concert staged in the presence of genuine art creations in Prescott.
