Russell Bedford International has appointed Stavros Moyal y Asociados, Auditores y Consultores de Empresas, as the global audit network's new member firm in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Stavros Moyal y Asoc. (SMA), is one of the leading mid-tier public accounting firms in Uruguay. It enjoys a particularly strong reputation in the financial services sector, being the only local firm outside the Big-4 to audit banks, pension funds and other financial institutions.
The firm was established in 1978 by the late Cr. Stavros Moyal Georgiades, and is now headed by the founder’s daughter and son, Alexandra and Pablo Moyal.
Alexandra Moyal is a CPA with 23 years of professional experience in the fields of auditing, consulting and outsourcing. With post-graduate qualifications in business re-engineering and information systems, and specialist expertise in information technology systems, financial auditing, IT auditing, central bank regulation and activity-based costing, she manages the firm’s information technology consulting and outsourcing divisions. Alexandra is also a professor of Business Administration and IT Management at the State University of Uruguay.
Pablo Moyal is a CPA with an MBA and 11 years of professional experience in auditing and consulting. His specialist areas of expertise are financial auditing, casino regulation, central bank regulation, financial planning, business management, strategic planning and tax consulting. Pablo manages the firm’s auditing division. He also lectures in Accounting at the State University of Uruguay and in Finance at the ORT University.
With some 50 personnel in total, the firm’s main activities include audit, systems and management consulting, tax consultancy, personnel selection and training, economic consulting and IT services.
The client base includes public bodies, state-owned enterprises, international corporations, and private companies in the manufacturing, commercial, financial and services sectors. SMA is registered as consultants and auditors with all the key local and international institutions.
