Michael Etts is a licensed Social Worker and a certified clinical hypnotist. His practice focuses on marriage counseling and hypnotherapy for weight loss, smoking cessation, pain, anxiety and depression issues.

Michael is the founder of Adaptive Therapy where the focus is on trauma theory. He has written a newsletter called Trauma Recovery which informs and assists people who are recovering from all types of trauma. Even though his practice keeps him very busy, he finds the time to be an active member of New York Quits Smoking Cessation program.

His main interest is in trauma theory and that has brought him to be involved in the research of neuroscience and neuroplasticity, with particular emphasis on the role of early childhood experience and the ability to cope with trauma.
