Gaiaoo Global Warming Initiative Warns Bush and Blair’s Rivals to Stop Undermining the Issue
NewswireToday - /newswire/ -
Lifton, Devon, United Kingdom, 04/25/2006 - Gaiaoo is the Global Warming Initiative which promotes awareness of the issues at a local level via it’s Online Forum for every town in the world. Gaiaoo warns that Bush and Blair’s political opponents have been trivializing this important issue.
Gaiaoo feels that using Global Warming as a political tennis ball is not in the interest of the planet. Clearly all political groups recognise that with front page headlines involving the impact of Global Warming that voters are expecting to see the Governments and their oppositions taking this very seriously.
The experts are telling us that there is Global Warming, but there are plenty of examples on a day to day basis that makes the public concerned, such as water shortages and freak weather conditions not seen before in living memory. Older generations are very much aware how there are vastly more cars, aircraft and lorries than there were 20 years ago in the western world and can easily pin the blame on this and vastly increased industry.
Gaiaoo addresses the perceived need of the population to feel that they are helping reduce the effects of Global Warming. Similar international attempts to reduce cancer by banning smoking in public places and reducing sulphur emissions to stop acid rain worked so why not a similar approach to Global Warming.
Paul Watkinson of Gaiaoo said that “This is a Global Issue seeking a Global Solution. Half of the world‘s population use only 1% of the fossil fuel resources and that is not the westernised half, so it can be done and Gaiaoo is promoting and enabling a self help approach. Since the industrial revolution we have been polluting the atmosphere and now it is turning critical for the human race. Businesses are not yet using Internet technologies sufficiently to make a significant effect, but there are signs that it is coming, with Free Internet video telephone systems now exceeding 200m downloads. Gaiaoo calls upon Governments to do more to support initiatives and avoid disaster. We need to see a second industrial revolution that makes much more use of the internet supported by both business and the population to rethink the way that we work. Gaiaoo, which has already been used by thousands and could potentially be used by millions, was written by me in my conservatory (solar heating) on a wireless laptop.
I regularly talk to colleagues via video conferencing on the internet. For many the cost of travelling to work and ferrying children to school exceeds their mortgage payments, how long can this continue as oil prices go up? One solution is for businesses and the public to make more use of the Internet to reduce the use of fossil fuels.”
The public are very welcome to support the Gaiaoo Global Warming Initiative petition to lobby local and national governments on this issue . The site is called “Gaiaoo” because leading scientists refer to atmospheric systems as “gaia” and the “oo” is symbolic for oxygen (O2) the gas which we need to survive on the planet.
