The Department of Homeland Security has given its thumbs up to Advantage SCI’s CEO Elsa Lee to provide expertise on Terrorism to the University of Southern California’s - Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events Team (CREATE).
USC-CREATE is the nation’s first University Homeland Security Center of Excellence to be funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The Center’s mission is to improve the nation’s security through the development and application of tools for assessing risks and consequences of terrorism.
“We are confident that the cooperative efforts of the first Homeland Security Center of Excellence will greatly enhance our ability to combat terrorism by empowering the best scientific minds at our nation’s universities to tackle the challenges we face,” said Dr. Charles McQueary, DHS under secretary of Science and Technology.
Elsa Lee, CEO and President of Advantage SCI, brings 25 years of experience in combating terrorism and protecting critical infrastructures to the Team. As a former Counterintelligence Officer for the US Army, Elsa’s military career spanned 20 years across 19 countries and included participation on a joint terrorism task force in Europe that was responsible for successful investigations and capture of terrorists. Her unique insight and perspective on terrorism can only broaden and strengthen the capabilities of the USC-CREATE Team in achieving their goals.
“I am very proud to be associated with such a prestigious institution as USC and look forward to participating in this collaborative effort,” said Lee. “Our services have historically benefited government agencies and corporations; now I am looking forward to working with the university center and helping to influence and prepare our future leaders in their battle against terrorism.”
In addition to serving USC-CREATE, Advantage SCI also contributed to the nation’s first, one-of-a-kind railway security study jointly with the RAND Corporation and Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) on one of the nation’s railway corridors of strategic importance and Vulnerability Assessments of US Coast Guard Port facilities. We have been providing this type of training to White House officials, diplomats, military and government personnel, business executives, private sector workforces, and the scientific community for 25 years.”
"We are so encouraged to see that our newest client, a major oil company sees the value of our expertise to mitigate such risks and has contracted with Advantage SCI to provide Travel Security Training to their corporate travelers. There's only one way to view this, you have to be willing to spend a few dollars today for preparedness and prevention, or gamble the lives of your employees by taking the risks and paying out millions in damages down the road."
