Throughout the week, contributions for the American Cancer Society can be dropped off at any of the four school campuses or made online by visiting positivehits.org. The campaign will end on Friday, April 3, when Kloke Mayflower will launch the Mayflower hot-air balloon from the high school campus, with one radio personality from WPER and one school administrator riding in the balloon. The event, which will be broadcast live from the Mayflower balloon, is open to the public and contributions are welcome.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to honor the Fosses and to raise awareness of cancer. Kloke Mayflower is thrilled to be able to use the Mayflower balloon for such a worthy cause,” said Greg Calvert, vice president of Kloke Mayflower.
The Mayflower balloon stands at nearly nine stories tall and is more than 55 feet wide. When fully inflated, the balloon contains 105,000 cubic feet of hot air produced by two special propane burners. The balloon is capable of lifting 1,650 pounds and can fly to altitudes of up to 20,000 feet.
