GlaxoSmithKline, one of the world's leading research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, hosted the GlaxoSmithKline 12th Annual IMPACT Awards Ceremony on March 17, 2009. Ten healthcare nonprofits in the Greater Philadelphia region were awarded $40,000 each in funding.
The GlaxoSmithKline 12th Annual IMPACT Award recipients were selected and honored for having a significant impact on their communities by providing access to proactive and effective healthcare services. The recipients included:
Berks County – Co-County Wellness Services
Bucks County – Libertae, Inc.
Delaware County – Family and Community Service of Delaware County
Lehigh County– Casa Guadalupe Center
Montgomery County – Breastfeeding Resource Center, ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth
Philadelphia – Public Citizens for Children and Youth, Resources for Children’s Health, St. Catherine Labouré Medical Clinic, Southeast Asian Mutual Assistance Associations Coalition

They are leaders, pioneers and role models and are all deeply committed to their communities and constituents. Individually, the work of these organizations helps people with often complex and diverse needs. About the GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Awards
To qualify for a GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Award, applicants must provide access to community healthcare services (primary mission) in the Pennsylvania counties of Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery or Philadelphia; have a total annual operating budget of less than $2.5 million; and have been in existence as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for at least five years. A panel of local and national healthcare delivery experts and GlaxoSmithKline representatives determined the winners based on a strong demonstration of ongoing success in providing access to healthcare; commitment to serving people in need; facilitation of healthcare delivery, education, creative partnerships and policy development; and a solid record of achievement, management and leadership. ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth of Bryn Mawr, Pa., enables elderly and disabled younger adults in Lower Merion and Narberth to continue living at home safely and independently for as long as possible by offering access to medical care, and volunteer and social work services that improve quality of life.
Family and Community Service of Delaware County located in Media, Pa., preserves and strengthens family life in all its forms, and promotes enhanced functioning of individuals, families and communities.
Libertae, Inc., located in Bensalem, Pa., empowers women and their families to maintain sobriety through comprehensive treatment programs that create and support healthy communities.
Public Citizens for Children and Youth of Philadelphia improves the lives and life chances of children in the Philadelphia region through thoughtful and informed advocacy.
Resources for Children’s Health, located in Philadelphia, promotes positive parenting, healthy pregnancies, and the health and well-being of children and families.
St. Catherine Labouré Medical Clinic of Philadelphia provides high quality, comprehensive primary medical care in a dignified manner solely to those without health insurance, regardless of ability to pay.
Southeast Asian Mutual Assistance Associations Coalition, located in Philadelphia, supports immigrants, refugees, and their families as they seek access to opportunities which would advance the condition of their lives in the United States.
