The St. Louis Rams' defensive tackle, La'Roi Glover, discusses the origin of his watch collection and its development over the years with InSync. Most people may know La'Roi for his achievements on the field and through his charitable organizations, but InSync reveals his budding side as a watch connoisseur.
Heading into the off-season, La'Roi notes the difference between his time off the field and his time on the field. "On the football field, you are taught not to look at the clock - you are supposed to live in the moment," said La'Roi, "off the field, our time is really structured." La'Roi's time is divided between his family, his foundation, and his spokesman duties for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri. With his busy schedule, La'Roi understands the importance of being on time, "I always set my watches five or ten minutes fast, so I am never late," he says.
La'Roi's father gave him Mickey Mouse souvenir watches as a child and sparked La'Roi's eventual appreciation for timepieces. His collection has grown to include a Paneri, an Audemars, and an IWC Big Pilot, a long way from his Mickey Mouse days. As his collection grows, La'Roi hopes to continue the tradition that his father started and teach his son to appreciate the timepieces. "Hopefully, one day I can pass them down to my son, and he can pass them along to his sons, make them real family heirlooms," he says.
La'Roi (laroiglover.com) is a native of California and attended San Diego State University. He has played for several NFL teams throughout his 12-year tenure. He is considered one of the best and most knowledgeable players in the defensive tackle position. Currently, he is signed to the St. Louis Rams.
