Gaiaoo Global Warming Debate - Blair and Bush Make A Technology Pitch But It Could Be Just Publicity

Governments collectively have got together in the past to resolve similar issues such as smog and acid rain so it is plausible that Bush and Blair are right to proceed with this approach. But what is at stake? Is it the security of the USA and the UK or truly a global concern?
Gaiaoo is an online forum for each of the 40,000+ towns and cities in the world to discuss the Global Warming issue. Blair and Bush are both of the opinion that technology is the solution and have made investments to look for ways to reduce their dependency on fossil fuels.
Bush wants the US to reduce its dependency on the Middle East for fuel and is using this as the business case for the US to invest in technological solutions. It is the next frontier: “How to become self sufficient for energy.”
Kyoto is just a target but Bush and Blair are focussing on the solution, which they see as improved technology. It is still being debated whether Global Warming is a problem. Bush and Blair seem convinced and are not saying that one solution is the answer they are betting on a wide range of technological developments.
Bush has gone as far as dedicating an area on the White House website for this issue. The Gaiaoo initiative takes this a step further and would like to encourage the public to debate the issue and possible solutions on a global and a local level.
