Colonial Bank recently announced the promotion of Harlan C. Parrish to senior executive vice president, retail line of business director. Parrish, who is based at the regional headquarters in Fort Myers, Fla., has oversight responsibility for the company’s retail banking initiatives. He will work closely with the company’s regional retail presidents. He also will oversee the retail banking support department and three lines of business: association services, mortgage banking and wealth management throughout the company’s five-state footprint.

Parrish has been with Colonial Bank since 1984, having been hired as the company’s first management trainee. Most recently, he served as retail banking president and CEO for the company’s Florida West Coast region. Prior to his appointment to this position, Parrish served as executive vice president and head of retail banking for Colonial Bank’s Huntsville, Ala., region. For more than five years, he was directly responsible for the financial performance, management, operations and marketing of 22 banks in seven counties located in northern Alabama and southern Tennessee. Prior to that, he was the executive vice president and head of retail banking for Colonial’s Gulf Coast region in Baldwin and Mobile counties in southern Alabama from 1990 to 1994.

Throughout his time in Southwest Florida, Parrish has been and remains active in numerous civic and community organizations, including the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, where he currently serves as chairman; Lee County United Way; Lutgert College of Business advisory council at Florida Gulf Coast University; Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce; Southwest Florida Transportation Initiative; Leadership Collier County; Leadership Lee County; Boy Scouts of America/Southwest Florida Council; Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center; Bonita Springs Community Foundation; and the Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Partnership Board.

Additionally, Parrish serves on the Bank Administration Institute (BAI) national board of directors. He has been involved with the BAI for more than 10 years after graduating with honors from the institute’s prestigious Graduate School of Retail Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He also served as associate director of the school and as a mentor to 40 to 60 national and international students each year.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Auburn University at Montgomery where he majored in pre-medicine.

Parrish and his wife, Kristi, have two children, a 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son. They reside in Bonita Springs, Fla.
