Dr Lakshmipathy has spearheaded an array of career oriented educational programmes at Madurai. Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science (SLCS) is run by SLF, a charitable trust which was started in the year 1989 to promote career-oriented education on a non-profit motive basis. The College is situated in a green sprawling 60 acres complex, which also houses the other Career-oriented Educational units, viz., R L Institute of Management Studies and the R L Institute of Nautical Sciences (RLINS). The Foundation also runs a Matriculation School in this campus.

RL Institute of Nautical Sciences offers BS Marine Engineering and BS Nautical Technology which are off campus collaborative programs of Birla Institute of Technology and Science - BITS Pilani which is one among the top ranking universities in India today recently re accredited by NAAC with a "A" grade and CGPA of 3.71 out of 4.

On Sunday, March 8, 2009 which also happens to be the International Women's Day, a grand function was organized at Madurai to felicitate the renowned scientist Dr Mylswamy Annadurai Director for Chandrayaan India's Moon Mission project. After hoisting the flag, Dr Annadurai inspected a guest of honour by the cadets of RLINS. The felicitation function started with the singing of Nationl song Vande Matharam and Tamilthai Vaazthu. This was followed by the lighting of ceremonial Kuthuvilakku lamp.

After the welcome address by Captain Subramanian Principal of RLINS, Sri Balakrishnan Controller of Examinations of the Foundation introduced the Chief Guest Dr Annadurai to the audience. Dr Lakshmipathy in his Presidential address described Dr Anna Durai as a missionary and visionary as well as a role model for the youth of today.

Dr Mylswamy Annadurai gave an inspiring speech on the salient features of the Chandrayaan Project and answered an array of questions fielded by the students. Dean of Work Integrated Learning Programmes of BITS Pilani in his felicitation address said that Chandrayaan Project put the correct image of India to the world at large which thinks India in terms of Slums, dogs and slumdog millionaires. The audience gave a special round of applause to Mrs Vasanthi Annadurai on the occasion of International Women's Day.

Mr KRA Narasiah Vice President in his speech said that India has lot more potential to be unleashed. Vice Principal Captain Hati presented the vote of thanks which was followed by the singing of National Anthem. Dr Annaduari visited the various facilities in the campus including the ship in campus TS Meenakshi.

His visit undoubtedly has charged the faculty and students of the Subbalaksmi Lakshmipathy Foundation to do their very best for the larger task of nation building and the credit for bringing the renowned scientist Dr Mylswamy Annadurai goes to none other than Mr Rama Subbu Secretary of the Foundation.
