Psytechnics, a leader in voice and video performance management for managed service providers and enterprises, today announced its sponsorship of VoiceCon, Orlando, March 30-April 2, 2009.
Dr. Mike Hollier, CTO and Founder, will speak at a breakout session titled “Troubleshooting IP Telephony Networks” on Tuesday March 31st at 2:30 pm. EST. During the session Dr. Hollier will address the realities of managing call quality in converged networks, highlighting the cost burden that traditional network management and VoIP tools place on operations and support teams with the inability to accurately and quickly pin point the cause and fix for voice and video call quality problems.
Dr. Hollier will also be taking part in a panel titled “QoS & QoE: Voice Quality Across Distributed Networks,” held Thursday April 2nd at 8:00 a.m. EST. In this panel Dr. Hollier will detail the relevance of ‘Quality of Experience’ measurement and visibility, why this is important from a service level perspective and how this differs from the traditional ‘Quality of Service’ measurements that traditional network and VoIP management tools report.
Psytechnics will also be demonstrating Experience Manager, its solution for voice and video performance management, at booth #1129. VoiceCon is recognized as the leading event for enterprise decision makers who need to evaluate their options for migrating to IP telephony, converged networks and unified communications.
Dr. Mike Hollier has been a pioneer in ‘perceptual engineering’ for over sixteen years, giving Psytechnics its unique ability to measure the impact of network transmission or voice/video application problems to users’ perception of call quality, and then provide the subsequent diagnosis of the problem. Between 1987 and 1999 he held a number of positions within BT; directing their research into audio, video and multi-media performance assessment. He earned a PhD from the University of Essex for his work on using models of human hearing to predict speech quality. His team created the award winning PAMS (Perceptual Analysis Measurement System) speech quality measurement. Dr Hollier is a Chartered Engineer, twice winner of the Alan Rudge Award for Innovation, a fellow of the University of Essex and member of the IOA and AES.
