As a result of the huge demand for this film, the festival's executive director Carol Bidault says another session will be added immediately following the first screening. Tickets for a 9:15pm show on March 8 will be available through the festival website (dciff.org), or at the box office.
Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets early as another sellout is expected. All festival films will be shown at the Phoenix Theaters in Union Station located at 50 Massachusetts Ave., NE, in Washington DC.
“How to Be” is an award winning wry comedy about twenty something Art, played by Pattinson, who moves back in with his parents, hits a quarter-life crisis and enlists the help of a self-help guru. The film provides a timely look at the increasingly common phenomena of grown-up children living at home, frustrated creativity and self-help.
Director Oliver Irving has been making films ever since he could hold a camera. He attended Bournemouth Film School and is an accomplished musician. His last short film “New World” was shot on location at Wilton House (famous for such films as “Barry Lyndon” and “The Madness of King George”). “New World” starred Malcolm Tierney (who also appears in “Star Wars” and “Braveheart”). “How to Be” is Irving’s first commercially sold feature film and has played in numerous festivals, won prizes and found international distribution. He was invited to attend the prestigious Talent Lab as part of the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2008 and the Berlin Talent Campus in February 2009. The filmmaker will participate in a post-screening question and answer session at the Washington DC Independent Film Festival.
