Raleigh, NC, United States, 02/22/2009 - The Preserve at Jordan Lake Golf Club Selected as Qualifying Location for Prestigious International Junior Championship. The Tarheel Golf Foundation will host North Carolina Qualifying for Callaway Junior World Golf Championship in Chapel Hill.

The Tarheel Golf Foundation’s Tarheel Junior Golf Tour will host Central North Carolina’s Qualifying Tournament for the Callaway Junior World Championship at The Preserve at Lake Jordan Golf Club in Chapel Hill, NC on April 18-19, 2009.
The qualifying event will take place as part of the Tarheel Junior Tour’s spring 2009 elite player series. “The spring series is being held at the region’s most challenging and spectacular golf courses. When the Callaway people asked us to host their 2009 North Carolina qualifying, we immediately knew that we wanted to hold it at The Preserve,” stated Eric Murray, TGF Co-Director. He added, “The junior worlds is among the most prestigious of all major international junior events with past winners such as Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson it is one of the most sought after titles for a top junior to win.
The Preserve is a test of golf that will identify the best player from North Carolina to receive an invitation to play at San Diego are golf courses, including Torrey Pines South Course, site of the 2008 US Open. If a player comes out on top at The Preserve, he will have a chance to win the most recognizable world championship in junior golf. This course makes a player think and manage his game and that is what it takes to compete at the highest levels of junior golf.” Murray should know, his son Grayson has made three trips to the Sand Diego area to compete and has three Champions trophies for his efforts. The field at The Preserve will include North Carolina’s top ranked junior golfers and is open to all players of High School and Middle School age. Entries are now being accepted at the Tarheel Golf Foundation Website.
About the Tarheel Golf Foundation
The Tarheel Golf Foundation (tarheelgolf.org) is a non-profit corporation that operates competitive junior golf tournaments in North Carolina, primarily in the Triangle Region. The organization was founded in fall 2008 to provide nationally ranked events at a lower total cost of participation than currently available to the majority of North Carolina’s young golfers. The organization’s junior tour started holding competitive events in January 2009 with full fields of players from North Carolina and surrounding states.
