Asia’s biggest 7th Aero India defence expo of Ministry of Defence, Government of India managed by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) was held at Air Force Station Yelahanka, Bengaluru, India from February 11-15. For the first time RFID technology was used along with other security and safety equipments like CCTV cameras & Metal Detector. More than 500 exhibitors participated at the event from different countries like Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Venezuela. Even from India the limelight was on DRDO, HAL, ISRO, BEML and many other PSU’s & private organizations. Defence Ministers from as many as eight countries had converged at Bengaluru for the show. Besides high level delegations from 40 countries had witnessed the show.
Aero India 09 till now has been the biggest ever event management project in India using RFID technology. More than 500K people were tracked using a combination of UHF & LF RFID technology. A double authentication secure system was used for tracking the persons getting entry at the event of Aero India 09. Both varieties of RFID tags were implanted on the invitation card and each person was tracked in different zone using readers till they leave from the exit gate.
