Riverside Humane Society Pet Adoption Center (RHSPAC) presents its 17th Annual Walk With The Animals, 8 am to noon, March 21, at Fairmount Park, Riverside. Grand Marshal for the two-mile walk around Lake Evans and event emcee is KOLA 99.9 FM’s Cindy Davis, heard weekdays on the Inland Empire’s top All Classics station.

Registration for walkers and their pets starts at 8 am. The walk begins at 9. The Walk With The Animals event is free and open to the public. Participation in the walk is not required.

The event starts with a pancake breakfast served 8–11 am. and includes demonstrations by Muttley Crew K-9 Entertainment, Owner-Pet Look-Alike and Most Talented/Clever Pet contests, bake sale, boutique, and raffle for many prizes, including a handmade art quilt donated by community supporter Tim Tourtellott.

Animal-related exhibits will offer information, products and services. RHSPAC and other rescue groups will have animals for adoption. Riverside County Dept. of Animal Services (RCDAS) will be on hand for rabies shots, microchipping and pet first aid, and have information on spay/neuter financial assistance. Cindy Tait of the Center for Healthcare Education will provide human first aid.

Walkers are encouraged to collect pledges to sponsor their effort. Registration/pledge forms are available on RHSPAC's website, at the Pet Adoption Center at 6165 Industrial St., Riverside, or by calling 951-688-4340, x312.

First prize for the walker collecting the most pledge money is a Saturday night for two in a suite at the Historic Mission Inn, Riverside, plus Sunday brunch. Second prize is Sunday brunch for two at the Historic Mission Inn. The top business team will be recognized with a commemorative plaque in the Pet Adoption Center. All walkers raising $75 in pledges will get a Walk t-shirt.

“The Walk is a super event for people and animals who love spending time together,” says Katie Wider, Walk chairwoman. "It also raises lifesaving funds to nurture and re-home dogs and cats waiting at the Pet Adoption Center for a second chance.”
