Debut Broadcasting Corporation, Inc.™ (OTC BB: DBTB), a media and entertainment company, today announced its chief financial officer (CFO), Sariah Hopkins, was recognized as one of Nashville Business Journal’s 2009 Women of Influence in the “Behind the Scenes” category. Hopkins and 30 other influential women were honored at a luncheon on Friday, February 06, at the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville, Tenn.
“I am honored to be named a woman of influence, as I have been given the privilege in my personal life and career to work and grow alongside strong, intelligent women,” Hopkins said. “I have had the opportunity to develop my skills while working for high quality companies that provide me with opportunities to excel in my career. I am grateful to be afforded the opportunity to pass on the knowledge I have gained to others, specifically women, in the business world.”
The Nashville Business Journal collected hundreds of nominations last fall and narrowed them down to 31 Women of Influence in nine categories, including behind-the-scenes, community supporter, corporate executive, dynamic-due, entrepreneur, family business, inspiration or mentor, nonprofit leadership and public policy.
Hopkins began her career with Debut Broadcasting as controller, under the direction of acting CFO Shannon Farrington, whom Hopkins notes as a mentor. Debut Broadcasting became a public company through a reverse merger in 2007, and in early 2008 went through significant operational changes. In 2008, Hopkins assumed the day-to-day functions of CFO while still operating under the title of controller. In this capacity, Hopkins wrote the company’s first 10K report, Proxy Statement and planned for its first ever annual meeting of shareholders. In addition to immersing herself in the Securities and Exchange Commission regulation and procedure, Hopkins helped save the company more than $100,000 in legal and administrative fees during the first half of 2008.
Hopkins is listed as one of the 2009 Women of Influence, including three other “behind the scenes” honorees. Other women honored at the luncheon include Deborah Chapman from Questar Staffing, Mimi Fondren from Hospital Hospitality House of Nashville and Marion Ingram from Reliant Bank. Hopkins and other winners were also featured in a special Nashville Business Journal publication released on the day of the luncheon.
